Autumn buds

DAY 232 (23 NOVEMBER) – Japanese photinia? (Photinia glabra) (Farnham)

It’s such a thrill at this time of year to see something that looks as though it is emerging, rather than crumbling and fading (beautiful though the latter can be). After much fruitless searching I have decided these red buds are in fact leaves-to-be – so the plant could be a photinia. But I’m far from confident…
